Hey guys,

I have a tunze 9004 protein skimmer which in form is a tall black rectangle with an out flow on the bottom face, the intake sits at the top of the water level, and 2 thin seams on the sides. Breaking it in involves dealing with a lot of microbubbles from the output, but tunze sells a sponge you can put that limits the microbubbles, I got this and it works, but now the issue is microbubbles now come through the 2 thin seams on the side of the unit. I'm hoping there is a form of reef safe water proof tape that I can use to line and seal those seams? I'm open to any other solutions as well, just not glue/something permanent as I do still want to open the unit for cleaning and maintenance.

I have used this unit for a long time on my IM 40. The issue is two parts. One when you take it apart you have to get it totally snapped closed. This can be a real pain. As there are several pieces that have to be in the right place. I would suggest just taking it out and spend a very minutes getting back into place. Next make sure to adjust the air line clamp down to you get less bubbles. This takes a few times to get the right flow of air so slowly tighten. Letting the skimmer adjust to the change of air flow. You will soon find the proper amount.

This might work? Shark safe but idk about reef safe!

I did have to open it up as soon as I got it as the whole bubble producing unit inside it was unassembled, so I may have made a mistake reassembling it so I do intend on reassembling it again before I use tape or something, and I do have the air line clamp exactly where I need it to be so I'd like to not have to change it now.
