Reef Salt Cubes?

I’m contemplating a design for something like a “salinity” reactor...

Not sure what you intend, but folks who think about controlling salinity usually approach it by dosing seawater when salinity is low, not dry salt.

One concern in a hardened block of salt is possible depletion of alkalinity as calcium carbonate precipitates.

I’d like to have a small reaction chamber through which I pump sump water, and where I can release a measured dose of salt (i.e. cube) when I need to increase salinity. The idea is to get out of the business of manually mixing saltwater entirely. Think it could work?

It could work for sure.

Is it worth the effort? I seriously doubt it. :D
