Reef Salt Used By

I emailed Aquaforest with this question but received no response so thought I would try here.

Aquaforest state that their Reef Salt should be used within 5 days of mixing it. I would like to know what happens to the salt if you leave it longer. I mix enough salt and dose it slowly over 7 days so I just want to know if this is an issue.

BRS did a video on that, you can use mixed saltwater for a longer period then that.

Once dissolved, use the salt within 5 days. Evaporation can change water parameters, so keep freshly mixed saltwater in a sealed container if you don’t use it right away. You should check the salinity of your saltwater again before use if you store it for a couple of days.

When you store saltmix - the water evaporates and salinity could rise.

Many thanks. So it is just salinity that is the issue? If so, assume I check salinity on a regular basis and maintain salinity, are there any other changes to the chemistry of Aquaforest reef salt? Do you see alkalinity drop?

If salinity rise - every parameter will rise.

I think you are missing what I am saying. Assuming I manage the Salinity increase so there is no increase, is there any other issues keeping your salt longer than 5 days?

As I have not received any response from the 2 emails I sent to Aquaforest and also no real answer on this thread, I decided to continue to purchase my existing DD H2Ocean Pro salt. Very disappointed at the lack of customer service.
