Hello, I purchased reef savers rock from Aquacave and now I am wondering if I should do anything besides rinsing it? Should I worry about phosphates? If so, what would help?

Thanks,
Roland

No instructions as to what to do inclosed in the box, so I just put them in my tank. That was about 3 months ago. All is well. BTW, I purchased the 20 lb box and received 4 large pieces, nothing like the pic. What size box did you purchase, and how many pieces did you get?

I got about 100 pounds. All medium sized. Pretty nice. So you haven't had any phosphate problems?

No phosphate problems.
Running the MiniMax All-In-One Media Reactor with BioPelles. Also use: Rowaphos, Seachem SeaGel, Purigen.
All 20 pounds of Life Rock in a Nuvo 16. Will be transfering this to a PicO 20G when it arrives.

No phosphate problems here either. I really like this rock, 25lbs in my 40B :)

I've always soaked my rock a couple weeks before adding to my tank. Put it into a Rubbermaid tub, power head, bag of carbon. Not necessary of course but it's worked great for me. I get a much faster cycle, as by the time it hits the tank it's loaded with bacteria :)
I've also noticed that I get no nuisance algae. The rock is kept in the dark for those two weeks in the tub, then dark in the tank during the entire cycle period. A total of about 4-6weeks.
