Reef Saver Rock

I just received 30 lbs of Reef Saver Rock. Looks great! Nice pieces. My question is, what do I do with it next? I have a tank already that I want to add it to, but dont want to harm my tank.

Right now I have it in a Rubbermaid container filled with RO/DI water and aqua clear filter with some filter floss.

What else should i do to it? Anything?

Yes and no, I upgraded from a 32 biocube to a 60 cube. The biocube had been running for a year, and i just moved all the rock form the biocube to the bigger cube, that has been running since January.

If the rock is sitting in RO water you should be ok to slowly add a piece at a time. Just make sure there isn't a bunch of dust a debris on it. The reef saver is the mined stuff correct?

Yes, it is the BRS Reef Saver Rock. Made of Calcium Carbonate. It is just sitting in Fresh RO/DI Water. Not salt. So you think it is just safe to add to the tank?

The good thing about the reef saver is it wont have all the nasty stuff on it. The only thing I would be concerned with is leaking phosphates from the rock. If you are worried about it then set the rock in some saltwater overnight and check for phosphates in the next day or so. Otherwise i would just add it a few pieces at a time. I used the reef saver too and I soaked it for a week in RO water then rinsed it off with the hose and added it right in. Not the best way but I have no problems at all. This was after my initial cycle too.

i would let this rock sit in a tub for about a week and test for phosphates. i bought this rock and it will not quit leaching phosphate. the rock has been in my tank for about a year now too. been doing it from the start. really regretting getting it.

I have the reef saver. One thing that I would do differently if I were to buy it again that is, I would drill holes through the rocks. They are not porous. If you break them you will find hollow spaces you would not be using other wise since no water movement will reach them, if any water reaches them at all.

yea i have had multiple tanks with my lfs live rock and have had 0 problems. went with this brs reef saver rock and have had nothing but problems with phosphates.
