Hi Large Aquarium Owners
I am getting ready to start a 330G Reef Aquarium (my post retirement dream project) and after much much research on Custom Aquarium builders, I have settled on Reef Savvy. After laying out my entire project, equipment and home construction requirements, I went to the Reef Savvy site and filled out their online form describing for them the exact tank I wanted them to build for me. After two weeks I never heard back from them so I went back to their website and filled-out their online form for second time. Two weeks later (now a month) I still never got any response to my online request. Ok so I’m thinking after waiting a month that maybe COVID has slowed down their ability to respond to online request, so I got their contact details off their week site and wrote them an email. As of today I still have received no response from Reef Savvy after filling out their online form twice and after writing them an email.

Can anyone tell if Reef Savvy has closed-down during COVID and not responding to new customers?
Thanks everyone.

Hi Karliefish

i talked with Felix 4 weeks ago. I guess that they are busy, I ordered my tank and the lead time is about 8 months at the moment.

Hi Lisaw86
Thanks for the quick reply. Is the Felix the person that I should be talking to about my order?

Curious...what kind of tank is Reef Savvy building for you?

Back in January when I did the same thing you did. Filled out the request for quote form. After a week of no response, I called and left a voicemail. A couple days later, I left another voicemail. Even til now, I haven't received a response.
I placed my order with someone else back in February and waiting for a delivery date.
I'm done with Reef Savvy. This is not the first time I wanted to work with them. There's plenty of other capable tank builder out there. It's not like I'm requesting a 40Gallons. This is a pretty substantial tank.

Yea....I know what you mean. I have tried to be so so patient with Reef Savvy. They finally responded back to my initial email but still haven't gotten back to me on my reply. So here I sit starting to serious consider another customer aquarium builder. You see this sort of thing happen time-and-time again....a company starts to get a solid reputation, grows to fast and then their customer service goes downhill. They would be much better off saying on their website "We are overbooked at this time so please don't expect to hear back from us for upwards of a month" or better yet just say "we are not accepting any new business for the foreseeable future" So who are you think of working with?

Pretty standard for Reef Savvy (Been that way for years) and goes along with there general build timeframe. Seems at best you're looking at around a year from initial contact to the point where you recieve your tank. With an average turn around time in initial quotes of anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks. They are a relatively small crew and patience is certainly something you will need dealing with them, however there is no denying the quality of there tanks so you'll have to weigh whether or not it's worth the wait for you. There are plenty of other quality tank manufacturers out there, a lengthy list can be found here...

wow the more I talk to people the more I'm amazed that they had kept such a positive reputation given the poor relationships with new prospective customers. Did you end-up hiring a builder for your tank?

There quality is where they shine, IMO theres really only one tank manufacturer that can truly top them although there are several who certainly come close. It seems once people recieve there Reef Savvy tanks all the waiting is somewhat forgotten and the ooooooo aaaaahhhh stage takes over lol

I had Miracles Aquariums build my tank and you can find my review of it and them in the post above :)

Same experience here, never a response so it’s hard to evaluate their pricing. Must be a good thing to be turning potential customers away!

If you're looking for a quote just get a quote from Tank Me USA or Miracles and add about 50-75%. That would get you into the ballpark of Reef Savvy pricing for most tanks

If I company can’t take the time to respond to inquires within 48hrs, then I’d move on.

Well, that eliminates virtually every top custom tank builder out there. Certainly narrows down the list of builders which can be a nice side effect I guess :)

From the quotes that I've had it seems about a week max is the typical timeframe for quotes from 99% of builders, with the notable exception of Reef Savvy.
