I'm looking to purchase a new rimless tank I know reef savvy is $$$ but I need some opinions, I'm looking to go at least 200g

I don't think you will find many people, particularly those that already have a Reef Savvy tank, that would dispute that the quality is unrivaled. They do cost more and you will have to wait your turn to have one made. It takes a while. Use the time between your order and delivery to plan your tank and collect equipment. Felix is an awesome guy to deal with.

I didn't know you had to wait for one to be made, just looked around and saw some glass cages brand but reef savvy still looks amazing and I would want good quality. No idea how much rimless would even cost for about 200-240 g

I haven't kept up with ReefSavvys lead time but last I heard it was in the 8-10 month range. If you have the money and patience I don't think you can buy a better tank.

Strongly recommend that you do some research on the other company you mentioned here, if they become an option that you are considering.

Give consideration to the fact that you are wanting a large tank and large tank failures can be very destructive and costly, both on lost livestock and damage to your home.

Keep in mind that Reef Savvy is a small family business, building tanks one at a time - all of them custom built to each owner's specs. Felix Bordon builds them all and even signs the back of all of his creations. They do not keep standard sized tanks in stock. Their one small shop build tanks that are shipped all over the country. It takes time to produce the quality product that you will receive. Most customers use the time to accumulate all of their equipment, planning their systems and building their stands.

If you want to see some of the tanks that Felix builds, he often posts pics of tanks he has finished on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ReefSavvy/

Here is a build thread here on R2R by @Black Pearl for a Reef Savvy tank the size you are talking about. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/the-black-pearl-reef-savvy-240.243812/

I got a price from reef savvy last month for a 72x24x24 rimless, dual ghost overflows, 3 returns, and their special bottom and corners....it was going to be $4300.

Wow 4300 for 160 I wonder what a 200 or 240 would cost me and that's without a stand [emoji20][emoji20][emoji20] just wanna know the options out there I have a used 125 from a friend that I've had up for about 4 months but I by far want a new tank and I've seen a few reef savvy tanks at a store in Orlando and they looked great

I've seen some great tanks from Planet Aquarium... My LFS gets all his custom order tanks through them. Lead time is about 3 weeks. I'm not sure about cost but I think they are reasonable and the build quality looks to be top notch.

Planet does do nice work. I have seen some of their tanks as well. As it showed in the video, one of the owners was formerly with Oceanic, which was known for their quality for a long time.

Reef Savvy is not for everyone, the price and wait time does not fit in everyone's plans, but the thread started out asking about them specifically.

True, but it also asked for opinions. I've never seen one of Alex's tanks in person but from what I've seen online they look to be some amazing tanks. Probably the #1 custom tank supplier on the market today. In my opinion:D, Planet Aquariums would be #2 on my list of custom aquarium makers. Choices... it's all about choices ;)

If you have the the me, I believe Living Reef Orlando is a seller of Reef Savvy tanks.. they may have something in a size you are looking for. I know that all of the coral systems in the shop are RS and they are who I purchased my system through.

Well like some one said earlier, it gives you time to shop for the rest of your gear. If you are looking to aquascape with dry rock, gives you time to build your structures and cycle it before you start get the tank. Custom stand? Or sump? There is a lot you can do to eat up that time so once you do receive the tank you could be coral and fish ready the same day... just a thought.. And spread out your cost so it's not one be hit all at once.

With Reef Savvy they will want a 50% down payment when they take your order, but they will let you spread out paying the balance before the tank ships. That's what I did. That helped take the sting out of paying for it all at once. So, there is that.

Thanks I appreciate all the comments , yeah I'm thinking using dry rock but normally cycle it in tank with a dead shrimp and pouring the bacteria in. I've never cycled or cured rock in brute cans before

You could also check out Coast to Coast Custom Aquariums I have had my Rimless up and running now for 7 years. It is actually still on their website. It was pretty expensive back then, and i have heard that they are even more expensive now. But the build quality is amazing on the tank. I have no fear of this tank ever failing it so well constructed. My only worry is when I am finally ready to upgrade is if I will be willing or able lol to pay for a larger tank from them. I also wish I had a ghost overflow that is common now. A few pics they sent me back 2010 when they were building it.

I know the feeling. I've had my Savvy for 3 1/2 years and I wish I had gone bigger than 190g. I would love to bump up to 300/400g but I can imagine what it would cost me..
