Hi All,
I've decided to start a new video series on reef science; I typically cruise the lates scientific publications on reef biology and conservation - partly for fun and partly because I hope that some of this knowledge will be transferable to the hobby. I thought it might be a good idea to do a monthly video on the most interesting papers I come across.

I posted on the first video of their series in another thread -
here is the link again here for completeness

Nitrates and phosphates - what does the latest science say?

And here is the second video
Some neat research on how fish use sound cues to colonize reefs, and how this process can affect recovery of damaged reefs. Based on the following scientific paper: Habitat degradation negatively affects auditory settlement behavior of coral reef fishes Timothy A. C. Gordon, Harry R. Harding, Kathryn E. Wong, Nathan D. Merchant, Mark G. Meekan, Mark I. McCormick, Andrew N. Radford, Stephen D. Simpson Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences May 2018, 115 (20) 5193-5198; DOI: 10.1073/pnas.1719291115 http://www.pnas.org/content/115/20/5193 A big shout out to Timothy Gordon for sharing video and sound recordings from the experiment.
