I, as any reef squad member are more than willing to answer any question you guys have regarding reefing. If we can't answer the question, we will find an answer. This is essence of the reef squad.

So ask away.

Each member that is asked to join the squad meets requirements such as length of membership, shown a willingness to help other hobbyist, expertise in one or more areas of the hobby, welcoming new members to reef2reef on a regular basis...... We aren't versed in every aspect of the hobby, but work with the squad members and community members to find answers. We do this all the time, everyday, every week, every day of the year. This commitment is above and beyond of any other forum that Ive been on or seen, reefing or any other interest on the internet. We are volunteers and passionate about the hobby.

Now the people that thinks this isn't right or thinks this is a conspiracy against members here, your wrong.

I am proud to be apart of this hobby, this forum and above all, proud to be apart of the reef squad. They are some of the most knowledgeable, friendly and helpful people I've ever encountered on the internet or in real life. Period.

Absolutely. That's basically how I initially vet people on here currently.

Hmm so the question now becomes, will people give your tanks low ratings since they might not like your tone / response even though they are indicative of high skill. Interesting and probably. I can also see people with so so tanks being given high ratings to make them feel good by the hospitality folks.

I guess this would only work if the ratings were blind, but then ultimately you could figure out the owner with some quick research.

Like I said. Wild idea. But the point is, it would be nice to see more people with awesome tanks with banners if that's the route the site is sticking with.

Who's to say that the "voters" are qualified to give a good opinion? There are a lot of implementation issues with just assuming that what's "popular" online is what's "best" for the common goal

Not sure how this thread became this. But all I did was ask a simple question as I pointed out earlier.

I just have to question some of the reef squad's background and education in the hobby. Also how to become a member.

I had no clue about all the background drama that has been going on apparently, until i was told about it. That had absolutely nothing to do with me asking.

I think 90% of this thread could be moved to that politics thread...

To get on the RS, you need to have the Excellence tag.
To get on the RSL, you have to be on the Naughty List.

Of course there is. We evaluate nominations for the squad and choose members. Any member of the forum can nominate someone for the squad.

We guide squad members in answering questions, help direct to the proper answers. Work with the squad when there are issues on the forum, escalate if necessary to the mods or staff. Support reef2reef in give aways, events, promotions....

I haven't read all the posts but many so I'll just say it. I think the whole reef squad thing is ridiculous. When I see someone call out reef squad I bail on that thread. I love R2R but not the reef squad. I think we can do better.
