I think he also uses additives along with that salt? IO has never had the higher Ca levels that higher quality salts have, And I've tried many of them over 30 years.
Most people add Ca to IO before they use it for water changes.

I have used IO and/or RC (preferably mixed in equal parts and if you can pick just one use RC) for 10 years now with 2 part with great results. I do a WC every 1 or 2 months (more would likely be better) IMO no need to suppliment anything else. I have been using Randy's homeade 2 part for probably 7 years or so now (used Kent 2 part before that) and that makes it much cheaper. KISS is my motto with reefkeeping. Doubt you will find anyone here that would dispute the results I get.
