I've Had My Reef tank up for about a little less than a year, but today I had a little issue... I woke up this morning to my rock on the left side of my tank crashed down, luckily I had hardly no coral on that rock. But now the issue is re Aquascaping that section of the tank, which I'm kind of okay with becuase I wasn't super thrilled with the past aquascape. I currently have 2 islands a large one which is mainly LPS with Gorgs and Zoas, and a small island in the middle of the tank with a toadstool and Zoas, the rest of my coral is brain coral and scolys plus 2 clams which inhabit the sand-bed. Does anyone have any good looking aquascape ideas for the left side, I like islands, overhangs and basiclly a natural good looking Aqua scape. FYI the main corals to inhabit this section will be Softies With a few LPS.

There's a picture before the crash ( yesterday)... And the other pics are of all live rock I can use and of all the coral/ inverts! Thanks, and come up with something unique:);)

First off I can already tell you don't have a sump, by the foggy ness of the water and the outtake pipe in the back before buying more stuff a sump and skimmer. You may say you don't have money but you do because it all spent on money. BUY A SUMP. YOU TANK WILL FLORISH BETTER

Yes I know, and I understand the consequences of not having one but, I'm getting a sump very soon, I'm just waiting until exactly March 8th to get a MP40, Trigger systems sump, reef octopus skimmer, and radions for my birthday! You will see a big change on that day, anyway any suggestions for the aquascape? Also is this cube45reef;) awesome if it is, keep up with the good work tank looks awesome!:)

I think the general shape you had before was decent, but the rocks were to vertical. Slope them up more so you can place corals. Also, since your Pokemon the right is sort of roundish (if looking too down, you could make the one on the left more linear. Stack the big rocks on the bottom an build the shape by epoxy in the little rocks to them. Super glue and epoxy are a big help. I like to put small rocks in crevices between big rocks to smooth the transition an make the pile look like one structure rather than a pile of rocks.

Good luck.

Aquascaping is how you should want it. You come home every night and look at it. Your coral all seem fine so you don't need a sump as long as you have a skimmer and run some sort of chemical and mechanical filtration. I like the idea of having two islands with swimming space for fish and have all sps at top and all the chalices and Lps and zoas at the base and on the sand bed.

Have you thought about drilling your rock to use acrylic rod to hold it in place?

I have not thought about doing that, just finishing the scape up now and there will be an update in the soon to come hours!

Yea I mean I have not had a sump on the tank, only a canister filter with filter media and a UV sterilizer my nitrates have always been below 10 and are usually about 0.
