Morning All from the lovely quarantined Massachusetts! Quick thought as we all social distance and stay home...

Has anyone else been watching their Reef "breathe?" Having both my wife, my 6 year old son, 3 year old daughter, and me in the house 24/7 has obviously had an effect on the O2 and CO2 levels in our house. I have been watching my Apex like a baby monitor. Usually my pH swings from a max of 8.3 during the day to a low of 8.15 at night. However, I have watched as my pH now caps off at 8.21 and dips to 8.08! My OCD nature is having a hard time being "flexible." So last night after kids were in bed I closed my office doors (where my reef resides), put on sweatpants, sweatshirt, and wool hat and opened my office windows to a brisk 30 degree evening in Boston. I'll show that pH a thing or two!! Hope everyone is taking time to use their reefs to educate their kids, regardless of age. From pre-school lessons to college level organic chemistry, we have an unbelievable resource for some hands on learning. Have fun, stay home, and stay healthy!

In Phoenix, Arizona we can't always open windows. We experience same pH lowering. Youll read people drilling holes through their exterior wall to provide fresh air to skimmer. Not saying I recommend this to anyone who has a spouse:)

Excellent point!

I'm lucky to be in SW Florida where it's already in the low to mid 80's during the day and low 70's at night. So the house is open all morning and many windows stay open all night. No CO2 issues here.

I double-dog dare (I believe that officially means someone must do this) someone to attempt this method during our social distancing and to remain in the house with said spouse. Please post videos with sound ;)

What, drill a hole in an outside wall? What's the big deal about that?

I had 3 holes. One for a drain line from the liner around my sump/fuge and 2 for my chiller (one out and one back in) because the 1hp chiller sat in the backyard (in the shade on the north wall of the house).

I meant without the spousal consent. The idea is great and I’ve heard of many people doing it, always with consent first ;)
