Hey guys! I have a 105 gallon softie tank with a hermit crab, a boxer shrimp, a chromis and 2 clowns.
Adding a sailfin tang next to help with my red bubble algae control (yes I’ve confirmed it’s eating red bubble algae in QT so I’m very happy my gamble paid off).

I want to add in future: a mandarin, 3x firefish, a sand sifting goby and a blue tang (yup I’m aware of potential to fight with sailfin tang so my techniques will include buying a small hippo tang and adding it at night and possibly removing the sailfin tang for 2 weeks while the hippo gets adjusted).

Anyway my question is; do you guys have suggestions for the order in which I add those fish?? Or is there something I’ve forgotten to think about (e.g sailfin tang and hippo tang is still a bad idea?)

Thank you for your advice

Sailfin and hippo are probably fine to keep together. What are your tank dimensions? Sailfins grow very fast and both fish should not be kept in less than a 6' tank +/- 180 gallons IMO. They need alot of swimming room.

A yellow eye Kole (or other ctenochaetus tangs) may be better suited for a 100 gallon. Or a yellow tang.

The tank is 4 foot and something long.

But the plan is to upgrade this tank in 13-14 months time to a 200 gallon tank!

Ohh ok, isn’t a yellow tang similar body shape to a sailfin tang?

Same genus, but they do not grow as large or anywhere near the rate of a sailfin. I wouldn't add the sailfin or the hippo until you upgrade.

Ok thank you for your help :)
I’ve already got the juvenile sailfin in quarantine unfortunately. I read online that a 75gallon is good for a juvenile and 100+ gallons for an adult.
Hopefully it will be ok until I upgrade.
