I want to know what the reef hobby does for you in return! Besides money, the reef hobby has kept me away from drugs (never did them) so I can have more money for corals. Also, it’s kept me away from stress. I’ve never experienced depression ever after entering the hobby. This has been my experience, what’s yours?

It kept me from buying a motorcycle instead. People who have driven in Florida understand why that saved my life, haha.

The only reason you aren't doing drugs is because you can't afford them lol? To answer your question, it hasn't really done anything for me other than bring me enjoyment :)

See now, I'm sure some need drugs to cope with the fact they spend what they do in this hobby!

From the moment I started my first tank, I've been hooked. I mean I do enjoy every aspect of the hobby (maintenance, testing, etc...), and it is very therapeutic, but there is just something about it that draws me to the tanks all of the time. It's just fascinating. I find myself spending more time with the tanks (and R2R) than I really need to. It really is addicting!!
My name is Don and I'm a reefaholic.

I can afford them, I just choose not to do them. Who knows if I’m high and decide I want my lizard to have a play date with my fishes

I haven’t tested so I can’t say for sure but I swear reefing lowers my blood pressure. Whenever work or kids or wife or whatever else starts getting to me I’ll break out some test kits or do a small water change or heck just sit and look at my tank and have me a WhooSa moment. As far as the drugs I only do the ones that compliment my tank!

I can tell you my "indoor garden" definitely helps me enjoy my reef tank.

Hmm - never thought of it this way, but maybe that particular substance explains comic book names for corals and "Dr. Suess" tanks with day-glow colors under actinic lighting. ;Happy
