FYI ... Karang Lestari when translated to English means Lestari Coral. Karang is the direct translation for Coral in the Indonesian/Malaysian language!!

Thank you all for the kind words! I'm happy to finally give an update regarding "Rev's Baby." Honestly at first, I thought that the one year anniversary pic was a total sales gimmick and really wasn't expecting to receive the updated photo. But surprisingly, exactly one year to the "T," I received a delightful email. This operation is totally dedicated to the well being and restoration of our Coral Reefs. So far, I'm happy to announce that I've not only participated with Pemuteran's coral restoration project, but I have also volunteered at the Florida Keys Restoration Project lead by Ken Nedimyer. Below is the actual email that I received along with the attached photo.

Dear Supporter and Sponsor of a Baby Coral,
It has been 1 years now since your Coral was planted. This will be the last picture you will be receiving of your Coral.
Now what is happening in “Karang Lestari” Project?
We had some Coral Bleaching happening in the month of April and May 2009. By September all of the Bleached Corals have recovered, which is really good news.
Some Corals from Sponsors had to be replaced which for unknown reason did not do so well. Some Corals were eaten by Coral-eating Fish, like Bump-head Parrotfish or other Parrotfish. Well, this is nature-what to do? We are happy that the Fish population is growing!
This year we also have Coral Bleaching happening and most of the Corals start getting their color back, a few did not make it, the water
was too warm this time. Only one species is affected.
We are planning to have all structures powered by green energy within the next five years, which of course is very expensive, donations for this are very welcome and appreciated!
Now we have a Glass bottom boat, due to some generous donation and we are offering Glass bottom tours in the Structures including an optional reef.
Find attached a picture of your coral how it looks this year.
I just made a Web site where you or your friends can donate money or sponsor a coral on line or maybe you just want to have an update what is happening with our Project. I have put in the Website of the Picture Gallery a lot of Pictures of Corals and Fish and Critters and the Structures we now have in “Karang Lestari”.
I will in the future give more information on the Website.
