As the tittle said, I want to thank this amazing forum for giving me advices and being patient enough to answer all of my "stupid questions".
The tank has been running for exactly 3 months now and I finally have enough confident to put it up here and share my result. Since i'm still a college student, I built the tank through the budget buold method instead of going all out on equipment which will cost me a fortune.
The tank equipment include:
Aquaclear 70 hob filter (mainly for carbon storage)
Hob refugium
Autoaqua smart ATO
Hob tunze 9004 skimmer
2 AI hd primes
Jebao sw-8 wavemaker + gyre icecap 1k
Livestock:
2 ocellaris clowns
1 ywg
1 tomini tang (I will rehome him when he reach 3 inches)
1 timor wrasse
1 black cap basslet
1 skunk cleaner shrimp
1 fire shrimp
6 trochus snails
Corals:
1 giant toadstool ive had since 2017
1 trachyphylia
Colony of hairy mushrooms
1 colt leather
1 green sinularia
1 african blue xenia
Pulsing xenia
1 Gorgonian (idk the species, it was an impulse purchase from 2018 indmas frag swap)
1 goniopora
2 indo frogspawns
Cycling method:
For the first 3 weeks i dosed turbo start every single day
I cycle my tank without running my light to reduce any outbreaks ( i noticed that by doing this way, i was able to somewhat dodge th3 ugly face of most reef tanks)
Add my clown pair in when the tank reach 1 month old.
Added copepods into hob refugium when the tank was 2 months old
Future plan:
I am planning to keep a derasa clam in the tank when my tank reach the 6 months mark as well as a bubble tip anemone, only thing im worried about is whether 2 ai primes is enough in terms of lighting, i will have to do more research. And add in maybe 2 more fish (blue spot jawfish, green mandarin or naoko wrasse would be my top options). I know the concept of overstocking the tank is different among reefers, but so far i've kept all the parameters on point and there are no agressions within the tank, so I believe that with closer modifications it is possible ( big fish like the tomini tang and timor wrasse will be rehome when they outgrow my tank).
Again, I want to thank this forum again for helping me doing my first "non-nano" reef tank.
Do you guys have any recommendations regarding the coral choice i should do in the futre? Im open for any options! And feel free to let me know what i can do to make be better, as in this hobby there is always new things to learn! I will keep update the tank once a month to see the progress of the tank!
Below is a picture of my tank when it was 1 month old and the video is when it hits the 3 months old!
Parameters:
Salinity: 1.026
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 15
Cal: 440
Mg: 1380

Tested between sera test kits and hanna checkers
