Softies have always been my favorite. Easy to keep, cheap, interesting shapes and lots of movement.

Sps are a close second since they are easy to propagate and im impartial to plating corals.

Honestly im not a fan of zoas and palys. I find them too expensive, finicky, and not as interesting at colony size.

SPS corals are my favorite to have, but some times they just "don't"; you know: don't grow, don't color up, don't live. I hate to think about how many dead white sticks are in my sump.
If I had to pick only one and only one...it would have to be LPS. So much diversity in shape, structure, and color. When I first got in to the hobby on the '90s we only had hard corals (now LPS) and soft corals. When I jumped back in a few years ago, I had to read up on what was SPS vs LPS! I'll always be partial to trachyphyllia, fungia, and euphyllia. That's what sold me in the hobby to begin with, and even a new reefer can keep them with great success!​

Can't beat the diversity of LPS. Euphyllia, blastos, duncans, and acans all look so different and really have that "alien plant" look that I really like.

Started the hobby as an SPS guy, but now 11 years latter the zoas and even certain mushrooms are emptying my wallet. I credit my recent addiction to softies because of Led’s and how they make them glow in my underwater galaxy.

I think most SPS are ugly. I mean that honestly. I mean... they look like sticks.
Shrooms and softies can be as invasive as some of the weeds in your yard. Not putting any of those in my tanks again. LOL!!

I like LPS for the colors and fleshy shapes.
