Question: I've had the reefbreeder photon v2+ light since starting my tank 2 years ago. I raised it higher on the brackets by about 3" in order to get more light spread. Doing this of course would change the par values for different levels in my tank. Should i increase the %'s of each color? if so, how much?

Not enough info without knowing the actual PAR values. Raising the light can decrease PAR very dramatically, but how much will depend on many factors. Reef Breeders have narrow optics I believe, so it may not lose as much PAR as other fixtures. If you don't have a PAR meter, you could just try increasing 5% or so weekly and see how corals react.

That was my thought. Just curious if anybody had any experience with it.
I appreciate the response.

A lot depends on your current par. I have the 48” v2 and I was blasting things not knowing the par. I was using some of the light schedules on their website finally got a par meter and found out I was pushing 650+ par half way down my tank and 400ish on my sand bed. That was with lights about 13” or so off the water line. Depending on what your % is now you may not need to do anything. Highly recommend renting/borrowing a par meter to get a good idea of where you are. While you have it you can also look at different settings and record them somewhere for future reference in case you want higher or lower par in the future.

You can safely increase 5% and then recheck PAR when you can get your hands on a meter.

I upgraded to Reefbreeders last year and set my lights too low and too strong. After wreaking havoc I raised the lights and started at a rather low level, slowly moving up the intensity every few weeks. I love these lights, but they are way stronger than they appear.

Raise the light and let everything get used to the new lighting. Many corals will be getting more light now that it has vetter spread, you dont want to light shock those corals. I wouldnt raise the intensity after making another change.
