Hi all I have a s reefbreeders photon v2. I was wondering if anyone else were running these light's. And what do you have them set on at the peak during the day. Thanks

How High over the tank is it? How deep is the tank.

Well the tank is 18" deep I am about 9" from the top of the tank. Today I turned up my Blue cahnel 3 to 50% I had a current LED on the tank but I had it at 100% on everything, after I turned up the Blue today things look a little happier lol I maybe have far to much surface movement but It won't hurt anything just get a lot of flicker in the camera

If the current was the non lensed one it doesn't pack a big punch, esp compared to the Photon(great choice BTW). The photon is probably a little more than 4 times more powerful.
Im one of the anarchists who recommends setting the color by eye and then setting the intensity with a mere, A lux meter if par is not available.
As I recall from the specs and discussions W Reefbreeders on R2R, at 12in that light will give you more light than the sun. so just make adjustments slowly.

Thanks I will probably Hang this light but I haven't had time, plus I am going to get my shop to make a SS bar to hang it with too then go to find something to cover the tank when I drill the ceiling, I will leave it on it's legs I think till the end of February that's when I will slow down for a bit

With a 18" deep tank. I wouldn't go over 50%.

With the settings 10, 10, 50, 30, 45, 40, I was hitting 125-140 par on the sand bed with the light 9" off the water and 24" deep.

sound great. Im modding my lights again today a bit. Priorities ya know. I think Reefbreeders has the specs on their site, you can get a good idea of the capabilities there.
It does become more the question of the PAR range you want to work in. Most recommend 100par on the sand at min for zoas etc. clams seem to be 150 200 on the sand.
I prefer to be over than under, and the manufacturers who worked with halides in the day seem to agree.

I am really liking these lights my nem was ok under my other light but really didn't seem happy. He really didn't like it when I changed my light, but today he looks good today

I have mine kinda high then. Started low and ended up with 80% at peek with all channels except channel 4 (white) which is at 45% at peek. Lights are 12 1/2 inches from the water.

Ramps starts at 9am and end at 9pm. 3pm being peek.

Your tank looks good, I am at 50% right now my nem is much happier now

I notice that most of you have these lights set at much higher settings than I. I have been running a photon 24 about 8 inches above a standard 65 gal. tank, with softies and LPS (just the bulbs, no lenses). I have been keeping the white lights at one third of the blue lights (which I love the look of), with white coming on at 1% at 7 a.m. and increasing every half hour until peaking at 51% blue/17% white and white going off at 7:30 p.m., with only blue for 1.5 hours before and after.

Is anyone having trouble with corals at the higher settings? I find that, other than green star polyps, corals don't seem to survive very long in the upper third of the tank. I'm actually considering lowering the settings and cutting an hour off the schedule to also help fight algae growth. Certain gorgonians are growing like weeds at all levels.

Any recommendations?

I don't run photons but when I went led. It took awhile for my corals to acclimate to them and a very long time before I could slowly increase to higher settings so my SPS growth would kick back in.

If your happy with your color and your corals are happy then leave the settings like they are.

If it ain't broke ..., right? I was just curious. My guess is those running the higher settings probably have more SPS, which I don't seem to have much luck with. Then again, in such a small tank, you can't expect to cover that wide a range of habitats anyway.

I had mine on the legs with were about 8" above the tank. I hung mine yesterday, now I am sure I will need to increase my light out pur just not sure how much. When't from 8 :" to 12 "

Mine is 8.5 inches above the surface of a 24-inch deep tank. I peeled a half an hour off my schedule and took the peak down slightly from 51% blue/17% white to 48% blue/16% white. Mushrooms and zoas toward the bottom seemed to perk up a bit, everything else seems the same. I am now at 12 hours of white light, and 15 hours of blue light. I know most seem to use higher intensities, but do you guys use a similar time schedule?

Yeah this was really getting to me and I wasn't funding the answer I was looking for, so I rented a par meter from my LFS and boy was I way off. Par was really high, between 700 and 800 right under the water and like 500 to 550ish the around most of my corals which was higher than what I wanted. I wanted to shoot for around 350 in the middle and 250 on the sides and like 150 on the bottom. Now I run these settings for 7 hours with 1 hour ramp up and 1 hour ramp down.
