Reefcowboy’s 150 gal SPS System

Plumbed the tank with 1.5” schedule 40 pipe. Installed a flow montitor on the far return to have an idea of flow coming from the sump, and also a 2” flow monitor on the emergency drain, that way if the primary and secondary ever clogg I will be notified and so I can respond before a flooding scenario.

Tried to keep as much plumbing outside of the stand so I could be free from plumbing on the way to equipment.

Here in NY during the winter most windows stay closed so the CO2 in the house and tank stand can get pretty high. To help keep PH higher Ive noticed small measurements like improving O2 near the tank can help quite a bit.

I installed a magnetic levitation fan in the stand and will have it go on every 20 mins or so to keep pulling Co2 from the sump area when windows are mostly closed. The fan is dead silent so I cant hear when it goes on, and it is quite powerful at the middle setting.

For flow in the tank I will run two MP40QD’s on the back wall, and will have two Gyre XF250’s alternating on each tank end. I plan on making flow high and random. The apex WXM module will help create lots of random flow on the Votechs and the gyre’s controller can allow for good options as well.

As for the return lock lines, I opted for the Random Flow Generators, which really impressed me how well they perform.

Next, on to tank CONTROLL!

I'm definitely following every step of the way! I'll be asking for advice as well. You seem to really have this build well planned out!

So being my wife did not want me to build an extra stand or cabinet to house the controller/electronics, I had to make it all fit inside the tank stand... So I designed acrylic boards that would be sorrounded by clear acrylic covers, stopping humidity and water splash to reach the components.

I designed the stand a bit high for that purpose, to house everything neatly.

I also was careful to get everything to be easily removed in the event I wanted to add extra modules, probes, etc later on.
I think the overall look came out pretty much as planned :)

For skimmer, I chose the Skimz Octa 205i
With a german Messner pump, this thing is super quiet and promises to skim serious stuff.

I needed to make a skimmer stand as I had the skimmer water level at 9.75” high. Skimz recommends 7-9.5” so I made a stand that would shave off 1.5” and it came out pretty good.

love those boxes over your DOS's, wonder if that will keep the sound down some when they spin up

Funny you said, I ran them today and thought they werent spinning, lol. Then I looked closely and noticed the boxes are doing a great job reducing noise.

This is a killer build so far!

Thanks,
Lol
There was a guy in Brooklyn who did custom sumps, I drew all measurements, colors and feats and he made it like I asked. I think he is retired now, but I definitely am glad to have gone the custom route. Every inch inside the stand is used :)

Everytime I had an idea I would bring it to him on a piece of paper and he would start cutting acrylic, lol.

I copied the common design of algae scrubbers out there and made mine to sit in the back of the sump where I had some space not being utilized. I guess when space is tight we must get creative :)

Too bad he's retired. that sump is amazing and the built in scubber, is pure genius. Can I ask where you purchased the led lights for it? this is one of the best builds I've ever seen. Good luck, I'll be following.
I ordered my tank from reef savvy, but I could never do it like you did. congrats...
