My Reefer 170 is being reborn. Will be bare bottom, mostly LPS with a few montipora.

I used a Tunze 6095 last time. Love Tunze products. It was left over from a larger tank and worked ok, but was too strong and directional in part because I had sand.

I am considering an MP 10 or Nero 5 for broader flow this time.

MP10 max glass thickness is 9.5mm and the tank is 10mm. Issue?

Just answered this in your other thread, I run 2 mp10s with zero issues, works well.

I run a maxspect gyre and love it! Covers the entire tank with no dead spots.

I miscalculated the glass thickness on my 120 gallon (I was having the same debate as you just with the MP40). I have AI Hydra lights which is why I was seriously considering the Nero 5 (can control both with the app). I didn't think I could use the Nero due to glass thickness so went with the MP40 with a Nem guard. While it does very well at moving water and spread in the tank, it is only turned up 50% otherwise the flow is to much for my tank (most LPS with a few montis and only one sps stick).

Small and short, I wish I would have gone with the Nero 5. More controllability, can set different flows all through the day and night instead of in a constant mode (I use reef crest mode on the MP40). I don't have and APEX and don't have any plans of getting one, so this is the best I can get out of the MP40 until the Mobius app is updated.

One thing I have read a lot about the Nero 5 is that you should get the guard that goes around it to help smaller fish from getting sucked into it. It is the same price as the MP40 Nem guard so its a wash.

Just my 0.02
