Getting back into the hobby after a few years now that our new house is built. I have a new Reefer 300 xl coming I am going to be using a Sicce Syncra 6.0 for the return pump. I also got a

25 Watt Classic UV Sterilizer Aqua Ultraviolet with a Syncra Silent 2.0 Pump (568 GPH) pump that I can use just for the Uv. Normally I would just let the outlet side of uv run back into sump but after watching some BRS videos apparently this is not the correct way to do this. So how would I get the outlet uv back into display. Thanks for the help I just want to make sure I do this the correct way.

The best way is to run a braided hose from your Sicce SDC 6.0 to the UV, then out to the stock Red Sea return plumbing for your 300XL. That way 100% of the water goes through the UV. Alternately, you can take water from the refugium chamber, through the UV then out to either the skimmer or return chamber.

Ditch the Sicce Silent 2.0 or get a Sicce SDC 3.0 for your UV if you want to run it separately. The Silent is an AC pump and will cost more to operate over a year than what you'll pay to upgrade to the SDC 3.0 (I ditched my Sicce Silent 1.5/3.0 for a Sicce SDC 6.0 just to run my UV.

Ok guys went a different route and still struggling. I plumbed my Uv direct into my sicce 6.0 pump (530-1450 gph). My problem is my flow reading from my apex is only 341 running pump at 80 %. My 25 watt Aqua Ultraviolet suggested flow rate is 400 GPH. Should I try and turn pump up more or what am I missing. I have 3/4 plumbing in and 1” out. Just trying to do everything 100%.

I kind of have the same thing going on with my various 4 return, no UV, but the flowmeter from Neptune reads 350gph at 80%. I figure that the flow rate drops dramatically when you are pumping water up and under resistance from the flow meter and nozzle out.

Did you figure this out? I’m running a Cor20 directly plumbed to a UV and the flow meter is showing 380gph
