Looking at adding 2x closed loops to my tank as main circulation.
Few questions on this first of all
Which pump? Im stuck between ecotech vectra s2 or m2.
Each pump will run 2 output nozzles via a manifold for each. As a result each pump will be pumping through quite a few fittings.
Each pump will be split in to a T then in to a 90 esch side before going through a ball valve 2 45s and finally 3 90s so recap on each pump it will pump through 1x T 8x 90 4x 45 and 2x ball valve.
I know the ecotechs are meant to be good at head ressure but will i still have sufficent flow at the top from each output? Ideally with a s2.
Second question will one common drain be ok? Or should i drill 2 holes and have 2 drains.
Thrid question where would you personally put each output? I was thinking 1 in each corner?
4th and final... and one ran a ecotech pump on closed loop? Would you do it a different way?

welcome to the reef ,agree couple mp's will save you a lot of hassle, maybe not$$$ but long term outcome, will be worth it jmo

yeah true, i was going to go for 2 gyres but just had the look in the tank! good thing about closed loop is you just see a couple of nozzles. not sure what to do yet.
definitely for ease... wave makers haha

I would still get the M2s since they can be artificially limited if they are too much where as S2s cant go more if you want it.

Also I wouldn't do the common drain, as closed loop suction also prevents dead spots, so I would use it as well for more flow in a separate location.

Can you avoid the Tee by using the wye plumbing instead? also are you able to use the sweeping 90s? they are longer but reduce the head quite a bit.

Note: Most my experience with closed loop is on freshwater applications

Yeah thats true they arent to much more money. Assume running a pump 100% will wear it out faster than running a bigger capacity pump at 75%. Good point about the suction pipe though. Just means drilling 1 extra hole which im nervous about lol.
When you say wye plumbing what do you mean by that? Just a Y piece instead of T ? Also could use sweeping 90s for some possibly.
