Hi everyone,

I have a RSR 350 (73g DT) mixed reef thats been running about 14mos with ~60lb of lr and ~2” of caribsea substrate. Ive been reseaching which fish additions would work with my current inhabitants but wanted some opinions. Im thinking i can only add a few more depending on the type before im maxed so i want to make it count. I love wrasses in general but not sure if i could add another. Ive been reading some forums on compatability with a lot of good info but theres so many types of wrasses its confusing. I was thinking of adding some colorful anthias. I really love the blotchy anthias but you dont see them too often an i couldnt find recommended tank size for them. Most recent additions were the flame and leopard a couple mos ago and the pt was aggressive towards the flame for for the first week or so and since then everyones been peaceful. The most aggression ive seen is from the female clown if anyone goes near their area. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Currently i have:
2 Davinci grade B clowns ~2.5-3”
1 Purple tang ~3.5”
1 Leopard wrasse ~2-2.5”
1 Black neon dottyback ~2.5”
1 Flame angel ~3”
1 Goldhead sleeper goby ~3”

Are you looking for something for before or after you will need to rehome the purple tang? I would call that maxed out already, so my only suggestions are "small" fish.

If i was asking for what fish to add in a yr or 2 you wouldnt see this post today ;)...ive seen stock lists double that in this size tank i didnt think a couple more would be too much but if others agree ill stick with what i have.

You could get a puffer. Plenty large and friendly, so your tang being smaller still may leave it be.

The big question is how that Purple Tang will respond to new additions. They tend to be pretty aggressive. With Yellow Tangs, the 4-5 inch mark seems to be about the tipping point for them when they turn pretty aggressive and given that they are of the same Zebrasoma family as the Purple Tangs it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think that is likely with the Purple as well.

Yea it was aggressive towards the flame when i added that for the first week but didnt even look at the wrasse which was added at the same time. Probably because the wrasse was much smaller. Thats why i was thinking smaller anthias might be ok. Whatever i do add it will be smaller.

FWIW I do research before i buy anything i do know the tang will outgrow the tank. I purchased the smallest i could find so i could have time with it before i have to find it a new home. I should have added the pt last but my lfs got some nice small ones in i couldnt resist. Everyone is peaceful and healthy now but i also dont want to upset the balance of the community.
