So I’m looking at the emperor 25w UV and It’s 30” wide. Where is there enough room to even mount this monster inside the sump? Or do I have to mount it externally on a wall or something? I have my 23.5” jebao 55w uv mounted under the sump but I’m not too happy with the it looks in the sump. Can I see pics of your monster uv’s on your reefer 450s?

Best to mount UVs vertically, so that there is no potential for air bubbles to form against the quartz sleeve. At the very least they should be somewhat diagonal, but vertical might be the best option for you (as long as you have the height).

Sorry don't have a reefer myself...

It won't fit in vertically. I have the same. I've been using unshielded submersible UV bulbs you can get on Amazon. A few sitting in the first chamber have worked very well so far.

But the return pump flow rate is way too high to be effective for uv, emperor is telling me 140 gph max for a 130 gallon reef tank and my return pump is like 5x that lol.

I've two 40 watt unshielded UV's in there. What's your purpose? Mine is clarity and holding off any algae/bacteria. I'm not trying to eradicate crypto spores...
