Hi so I have a Red Sea reefer 900 and it’s about 1 year old it is a soft coral dominated tank but soon to be a mixed reef I want to get some recommendations on fish for the tank here is the list

Tangs:
Flame fin
Orange shoulder
Hippo
Sailfin

other medium to large fish:
Fox face
Lemarack angle
Marine betta

wrasses:
Six line
Melonoris
Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse
Exquisite Fairy Wrasse
Red coris wrasses
(Cleaner wrasses on way)

small fish:
5 pj Cardinals
Orange spot blenny
Tail spot blenny
2 clown

when I write it down it seams like a lot but my nitrate say otherwise my tank runs at 3ppm max and often bottoms out ending in dinos I occasionally have to dose liquid nitrates to get it back up I run two filter socks a skimmer that is barely turned on and a refugium the tank also looks pretty bare and just wanted to know what fish I should add that will add life and fix my nitrates Thank you

Could add a school of

Squamipinnis anthias

3-7 females and a male, or no male and let one of the females change. Very active, out a lot. Hardy anthias and easy to keep. Not true of all anthias so if you choose a different one research first. I had been looking for anthias, and came across purple queens at a lfs. Didn’t google them until too late to find they have a very low survival rate. Well established tank with pods and they still starved to death

I also like schools of fire fish. I have 3 purples and 5 reds in my S1000. They are also out most of the time.

School of bar goby’s add a lot of action also, but not as colorful.

If you can get rid of the sixline then a few more wrasses may be open (A peaceful sideline is often a juvenile sixline). The wrasse genera that won’t be a great mix with the aggressive sixline in the tank would be;
Macropharyngodon
Anampses
Pseudojuloides
Xenojulis

Also, the Coris may become rather aggressive as it matures so just watch out for that.

Thank you for the reply even if I wanted to I can’t get the six line out way to many hiding places and really fast but lucky for me he is a model citizen and don’t mess with anyone had him for a year and a half

I’d add a few more angels to the tank as well personally.

Hopefully he stays as a model citizen however to me that sounds like he’s still a juvenile so he may not remain peaceful his whole life unfortunately.

My sixline is also a model citizen and gets along with all the other wrasses (6-7).

I always have to look up dimensions of the darn Red Sea systems. This one is 79x26x26.

Anyway, it looks like you have the fish listed already? You might want to feed a little more, if you aren't feeding a lot already. Like at least 2-3 cubes twice a day, and you could autofeed with pellets. And at a year, the tangs/fox/angel will grow a lot bigger.

That's a good suggestion, imo. I was going to say about a half dozen or so too.

Which Kearney, BTW?

I have an adult six line in my 900 and he doesn’t bother anyone or even bats an eye to any new addition, maybe I got lucky,I tend to think it’s the tank size

What angles would do good?

Curios to hear your thoughts,I’m an angel person and unsure of how to stock the 900
I’m more of a fish person until it comes to SPS so I would personally try and hunt down a small group of Dwarf angels that you enjoy (They don’t all have to be the same species, in fact they could all be different species). Id then try and find some of the medium angels, a regal for me would be a big one to try and find. Along with maybe 2-3 more Genicanthus species again, these can be different species or the same depending on how you like it.
Personally what i would do is something along the lines of this:
2-3 Centropyge multicolor
2 Genicanthus melanospilos
2 Genicanthus semifasciatus
1 Paracentropyge venusta
2 Paracentropyge multicolor
1 Pygoplites diacanthus

I’m going to put angels in and if they eat the sps then so be it,it will be up to the angels what I’m allowed to keep and I’m fine with that
Thank you

I find angels eat the corals that most resemble or have sponges.
