Helloooo,

In the sump of my reefer xl 300, the water level is so high in section in the video that it is flowing over the sides (bypassing filtration), how do I lower this? If i twist the redsea neck thingy to the right it lowers but then the tank makes a lot of noise and if I twist it to the left it fills even more? What do I do, i’ve tried taking water out of there but it just filled up again.

Thanks

is the return pump adjustable? if it is you could turn it down a bit and close off the gate valve a bit at the same time to keep noise down and slow the flow.

My return pump is already on the lowest setting, it’s the tmc reef pump 2500lph is that overkill?

Hey it’s me again ilott!

I’m not familiar with the reefer filtration but looking at the video my thoughts are that you’re restricting the flow.

I may be wrong but I’m thinking the cups you have your filter media in are meant for socks.

You could place the media spheres directly under the return pipes with the poly-fill laying on top of them. When the poly-fill gets dirty and clogged, swap it out with new.

the red seas come with those cups for different types of filter media and socks. so they are actually meant to be used like that. but yeah there has to be restriction there. Is that poly fill or a folded up filter pad?

Thanks, I thought it might have been but also didn’t but i’ve replaced one basket with a sock and the other basket with less floss to see how it goes, if it goes well i’ll introduce the other basket back with less floss. Thanks for ur help! Ur awesome

I call it filter floss so whatever that means

Also turn turn your diaphragm valve all the way until it starts going down the middle emergency overflow pipe and then slowly back every couple of mins Turn it back until it quiets down. Let adjustments catch up slowly. But I also think you media is clogged. Try using 1 sock and 1 cup with media first. Had issues with my 250 being extremely loud at first. just have to tune it and adjust on occasion.

Probably want just media in the basket. Sock is floss. They do offer a polishing socks that is extremely fine like floss. Haven't tried one yet. I will tell you stick with Red Sea brand. After market ones on amazon don't snap in and don't fit. they leak.
