Little update. New light for the 10g comes in tomorrow. The jbj is progressing ;Facepalm Still no dosing or water testing. ;Bored Hair algae is down to about 30% from 90% coverage. Dino regrowth is looking smaller and smaller.

There is a lot of clutter going on the tank but..

I know... It seriously is a perplexing change to the tank. I think I'll flip if this tank fixes itself and my two almost dead stylos recover. The fact that I haven't dosed alk or CA in almost a month is blowing my mind.

Last night I did some water tests and here it is.

Ca - 400
Dkh - 6.6
Mg - 1410
No3 - .50
Po4 - 0.023

I think I'll dose some alk

Did you test at some point before to kinda roughly guess the use over that time?

Currently I'm using NSW again.
Last year, I had the largest most explosive sps growth I've ever had. I had 2 green stylo get so big I had to give it away. A pinky sized acro was a palm sized colony in 35 days or so.
I was out of town for that time and in prep I did a 100% wc over two weeks.
This is the water I used.

No, it deserved a water test since it's been doing so well. Last time I tested it was between 8-8.5 dkh. That was around the first week of oct.

That NSW you are using comes with N and P and according to those triton tests, it's good numbers. I would keep up with that!

Yep. Not a huge drop really. Interesting.

Did you figure out the alk in the NSW ?

It's a fun trick question.
You have look at the calcium and find the natural alk balance.

It's the perfect natural balance btw.

I'll just take a guess and say it's between 7-7.5 dkh if calcium is 414? I do like the lower alk levels. I've seen better color and slower growth. To me slow growth is good but thats because I have a nano lol

I don't mind that Alk at all and I've been keeping at 8ish lately on the doser etc.
yea maybe one day I'll play with Higher alks.

But the super explosive massive one month growth was in that NSW alk. With no wc for six weeks.
And I wasn't dosing.

LOL! Aww little guy was happy you came home

I actually freaked out the other day. I came home and checked out the tank, saw my cherub twitching. Then he stopped. Started pecking at the glass like normal. So I watched him a little more and no more twitching. So, yesterday, same thing. Got home and saw the cherub twitching. Now, I see this when I walk up to the glass but he stops once I look at him. Then back to normal glass pecking. Well, again tonight! Just came home, I saw him twitching while i'm walking to the tank, and he stops. What is that all about?
