Well i hit this water change drain which caused a big leak. Which caused me to shut down some valves, and forgot to open another valve so the main tank then overflowed which i only caught onto after about 20g on my great room floor. Not to mention however many gallons in the garage and power going out everywhere!

But I'm at a loss as to why it's leaking or what to do. Right now trying to pump out the water back into the system. But this also houses a rack full of frags!

I don't see any cracks in the acrylic or bulkhead or bulk head screw.

Hopefully i can get it back together tonight but i don't even have any weldon 3 only have weldon 16. :(

Right now I take them back to the bottom and put it into a bucket to catch all the leakage but you can see the leaking in the picture it's pretty heavy.

You may have pushed the bulkhead open enough to suck dirt or sand underneath the seal. You can try to tighten the bulkhead.

I've always had to just replace a bulk head that is leaking. Everything I've heard says that once it's leaking or removed it just needs to be replaced. Not easy on your set up that's running though.

Hi there,

I've seen this problem happen before.

One thing you can do is remove the sand from around the bulkhead and open the bulkhead a bit to allow some water to flush through the gaskets and and glass then tighten up again. It is extremely important to remove the sand so it doesn't get stuck between the Glass and seal. There maybe some sand stuck between the gasket since you bumped into it.

This is one way you can do it without having to fully drain the tank...anyways hope that helps and good luck!

Looks like a faulty bulkhead, I hate to say it but you'll need to pull it and redo it:mad: Sorry to hear about your situation.

So it looks like i hit it just hard enough to make the nut skip a thread. I drained it, since i had the extra space in the system after the overflow problem.

Since it's midnight here and I'd never be able to get another bulkhead I actually put it back the same way primered and PV cemented but not this time so it will never move again but hopefully I'll never have to get it apart because it'll never happen now. Filled it back up and so far so good.
