Do you guys remember what you wanted or admired most when you first started? For me it was a bright and robust zoa colony and now that I’m 3 tanks past my first try I thibj my next goal is a full on sps tank..esp tabling acros. Something about them just looks so cool to me when they become good sized colonies.

Where are you guys at now and what reefing goal are you aspiring to?

When I first started out, I wanted an LPS tank. The look of the tentacles swaying in the current caught my eye and made me fall in love. Now three years later and i've caught the SPS bug hard! My tank, to me, is now considered SPS dominant.

I thought when I started that all I wanted were zoas. I have started out with LPS and just got my first SPS frag. Its going to be a very mixed reef tank haha.

I always wanted a jawfish. Now I have a jawfish. He just planted a kenya tree frag in his yard.

I am not into the domination stuff. Little whips and chains.

I started reefing in 1987 .... with the goal mostly to just be able to maintain a reef ecosystem. Back then it was softies. Not much information available though. A few periodicals and Wilkins books. My aspiration now is to have a tank so big that I need a scuba mask for maintenance.

I think I’ve been through all those phases. Except for starting out in 87 lol. That was right before I was born. LPS and anemones are so calming to watch and I think it portrays the that nice feeling of ocean waves. But once you get comfortable enough with lps you’ll eventually get one sps frag and then it’s all downhill from there lol.

I only have a 30 gallon and now all I’m worried about are my lps stinging my sps. I’ve got a huge clown pair that actually bites off the tips of my torches if they get too close and then those stray pieces float around and kill anything they land on. Kind of a pain in the butt. I’d love a giant tank but I had to be honest with myself... I can pretty much only handle 2 buckets max when it comes to water changes. I mix my water downstairs and I know anymore than two buckets will deter me from doing my water changes routinely.
