Ok ok the title is a little dramatic I know, but it is true. As a child I never liked school or going to school and complained or stayed home as much as I could. The teachers weren't too fond of me either because of my lack of enthusiasm and I wasn't a great student and was kind of the class rebel. Most of all an anxiety disorder did not help that either, and got worse when I got into high school. As a freshman in high school I went through some challenges just as any other awkward kid trying to find their niche. Sadly, this was not a safe high school for me and I was very uncomfortable.
At the end of my horrible freshman year experience I had an idea to start a frag tank, so I looked into it for months and months and I finally bought my own marine tank. I was so excited and I realized very quickly that this was special to me and the passion and determination for this hobby kept me thriving even when I failed. I found something so peaceful and interesting about having a saltwater aquarium and believe it or not it helped my anxiety and helped me get my mind off things.
I never really wanted to go to college until this year, I want to take my passion for this hobby and turn it into something I can do everyday. It makes me so happy and getting to talk to people who understand my lingo makes it even better lol.
I am now in my junior year of high school and in a safer high school with a friendly environment. I am focused on moving to Florida to go to college and get a degree in marine sciences! I would also love to get kids involved in saving the reefs and protecting their precious and fragile ecosystems.
Long story long, I am doing my best to follow my goals and create great experiences for myself. Most importantly I would love to thank everyone that has helped me and everyone that is still helping me with problems I run into. This is such a terrific community and I am so happy to be apart of it. I am very excited for my future in marine sciences and hopefully making a difference in our oceans.
Thank you if you read my story and I hope you enjoyed it.
