Ok... i got a down tonight... i'm unable to keep my LPS happy.
My wellso was in pretty bad shape a few weeks/month ago.. i was struggling to bring him back.. it looked better in the last couple of weeks... but it's now down hill.

My scolly was doing fine for the past 6 months, it used to be always inflated, since a week or two.. not that much.

My acan are .. average at best, have them since 6 months, i feel they were doing fine couple of new heads. they inflate much less than the first couple of months.

I have couple of yuma that are doing fine, there is one variety that i tried twice, but they always end up dying.

all my tank is doing very good other than that... SPS are growing like crazy, i'm really happy for that part. But LPS .... :(:(:(

i plan to have my LPS tank eventually, but need to get my cabinet complete to install the tank on the side, will be done... probably to late for the LPS.

what are your ups and downs for today in your tank ? need to share the pain!!!;)

on the bright side... here some shots of tonights

Beautiful pics!!:)

My Wyoming White somehow ended up in back chamber of my BC29:mad::rolleyes:! He had managed to get from chamber 1 which has a skimmer and into chamber 2 where the media rack is and finally came to settle in the second chamber of the media rack with the biospheres.

Had to completely tear out the entire back chamber to finally get him out!

After I saved his little life and got him back into the DT and everything back in the tank I realized that a couple biospheres ended up in the DT when I went to retrieve them ... HE BIT ME!!!:mad::eek::mad:

Those pics really are amazing!

I have had a few fish that have died in the first 2 days in my QT. That bums me out. I also just lost an anemone. Makes me sad any time a life in my care is lost.

Watching my son stick his hand in the tank for the cleaner shrimp to do its job always reminds me why I wanted to do this so badly. When you can get 16 year old boy to be fascinated by something along these lines it is an accomplishment!

My down for today was finally having to dig out a bed of anthelia that started growing back. Apparently I missed a few cells the last removal. I had a lot to say the least. Banished to my fuge. It's been slowly dying off there. But, somehow managed to begin flourishing again in my display. And of course it was on a structurally integral portion of my rock, so had to dig out in tank. Good times.

I have an emperator angel that I'm losing at the store. He's got an infection that I fear I wasn't in time to save him from. :(

That bums me out. Those are such beautiful fish! Some day I'll have an aquarium large enough to care for one!

Needs some ups also... i feel more depressed after reading all the downs :D
thanks for sharing... it's nice to see that we all have our strugles.
Up side: I GOT ALL THE ANTHELIA!! haha
And now can sit back and stare at my tank without constantly having the taunting wave of a pink antagonist staring me in my face. :p
:D:D

I'm just started using the Aquaforest additives ABEV for my sps. I really don't care too much about anything else in my tank but the LPS and softies are doing great now, the colors got deeper and they look fuller. Go figure. Worth a try.

Ups- acan's and blasto are growing well.

Very big down- I've being battling cyno on my substrate. So I'm using a strong siphon hose to remove it during water changes, today I got to close to frogspawn and it got sucked in to mouth of the hose and destroyed it. A moment of lapse in concentration and I killed a beautiful coral.
I've let my reef down today.

Awww sorry about your frogspawn :(

Gorgeous SPS btw! I'm testing the waters, pun fully intended, on a few sticks myself. So far so good. What is that coral in the 3rd pic down?
it's a blue hydnophora. took a while to adapt, but it's start growing. must move it to much light for it... but i like it

I have no experience w/Sps,Lps, just soft, but keep reading about the fights among them. When you add new species, does aggression level/placement figure in? Seems like all the best parameters don't matter if they work against each other.

Down: I have just received the biggest algae outbreak my tank has ever seen. Nitrates are 40 so I thought I'd try some NOPOX. On day 2 there was a huge bacrterial bloom and all of my zoas and LPS were receded.

Up: I started microscrubbing and the bloom has cleared up and corals are perking up as well.

A few months ago my LPS were doing what you are describing. I switched over to aquaforest reef salt and I saw improvements within 3 days. I hope things turn back in your favor soon.

Why do people consider it a down when they get free food for their tangs and blennies? o_O
bc I don't have any tangs or blennies. The algae is growing on my JF jack-o-lantern leptoseris... but I'm not freaking out!!!:eek:o_O

Ups: Switched from 2 Hydra 52 HD's to a 48" 8x54w dimmable and my SPS are growing amazing now, even though you don't get as much "pop" with t5's, but still loving it. Completely in love with my new 2in purple tang. Also my WD Tenuis is doing great and get to take the new orange passion off of the frag rack today and place it on the rocks. Last but not least, im happy to say that my fiancée's kids are wanting to get more involved in helping me clean and take care of the tank and I love to teach them.

Downs: Starting to see dino's growing . So not too happy about that and trying to manually remove it without hitting one of my 70 SPS frags is challenging. Peroxide isn't getting rid of it, so going to give the vibrant liquid a try when it gets here.

Another HUGE up: It is Friday and the FL vs GA game is Saturday and I get to take my dad to the game!

Hope everyone has a great Friday and a great weekend!
