Have no idea how to fix this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

I also forgot to mention that only the up and down arrows work. The other buttons done function or make the little beep when pushed.

The unit was new and sealed in the box today. I have had it in the spare room since 2013. I hooked everything up on the floor to make sure it all functions. Everything was working. Moved it over to my tank and it has been mirrored and upside down since than.

It's a very strange problem. Again, I wish I had something constructive to tell you. I love my RK and bought a gently used one as a backup/spare, but it's got some glitches... Since there hasn't been support for years, you may not be able to fix it.

When you updated the firmware did you hook a powered PC4 on the bus with the head unit? Some computer USB ports do not have enough voltage to update the secondary memory without using a PC 4 to power the bus.

No, I just have the handheld unit plugged into the USB on the laptop.
