Hello all...
After a devastating heater failure in one of my freshwater tanks I've decided to purchase a ReefKeeper lite basic primarily for heater control in my 125 reef tank that I'm currently building. My total system volume is going to be between 150 and 170 gallons so I need 600 watts worth of heat. I plan to use 2 eheim jäger 300 watt heaters so my question is this... I could have sworn that I read somewhere that you can run a maximum of 300 watts per outlet on the supplied power bar. If this is the case will I have to use up 2 outlets just for heat and then program each one the same way? Or is there somebody out there who is running this controller on a larger tank that has connected 2 300 watt heaters to 1 outlet without issue?

Thanks in advance folks.

Yes 15 amps per power bar but CH1 and CH4 are limited to 8 amps each. CH2 and CH3 are limited to 3 amps each. You can add another power bar if needed as long as you don't exceed 4 modules total on the RKL

Also remember that the Lite is limited to 4 modules, so if you're going to add more than 4 you need a RKE. FYI;)

I am would skip the RKE and go to the Archon if or when that time happens. With the array of input and output ports that are on the Archon you would save the money on several modules you would have have with the RKE to match the Archon.

This is true, it's nice having everything in one unit but the price, I've read, is hefty. I wish I could afford one. It's nice you can use your current modules with it though.

You can purchase a head unit with power pack only if you want for 399. It has basically an SLX module, APC module and ALC module built into it with a few extras added in. By the time you add in a RKE head unit and those modules the price would be more for them. The Archon does not have the SDO or SDI port that the ALC has but only the SDO was of use and only with AI SOL type light fixtures.
RKE 199.00
SLX 089.99
APC 129.99
ALC 079.99
TTL 498.97

Wow I didn't know anybody had replied. I haven't gotten any e-mails on this thread. Weird. Well thanks folks that's all great info. With a quick math calculation I've determined that a 300 watt heater won't draw more than 3a. So I think I'll just combine the two on the first outlet.

Thanks again!
AJ
