Hoping you guys can help. Nightmare scenario last night, kids overflowed bath tub, soapy water traveled down pipe two stories to basement directly over my tank. Yeah. Doing water changes, livestock all seems ok overnight, but now I’m trying to figure out why I can’t get my reefkeeper back online after shutting it down last night to mop up water that dropped on floor and various wires.

I have a RK Lite Head unit. It is plugged into 3 PC4 modules in series. I have an RKM SL2 plugged into last port on third PC4 and into Bus 1. I have temp probe in Bus 2, and Ph probe (disregard the salinity probe hooked up in pic - long story, wrong probe, but I had it hooked up when it was working so reattached during trouble shoot). All worked well until I reset last night.

Now everything except ph probe/SL2 seems to be working. I calibrated temp probe via the RKL head module menu and it seems to be working - at least it seems to be tracking my separate cheapo digital thermo. However when I go to the SL2 module, shows “temp error” and “pH error,” neither of which clear when I try to calibrate. Also, when I try to calibrate pH probe using solutions there is no change when I move probe from 4 pH to 7 pH to 10 pH.

Dip stick tests show my ph to be a little on the low side but within tolerable range (7.5-8).

Any help at all clearing these errors and getting Ph probe to register would be appreciated!!

One add: when I try to calibrate pH probe, the numerical value does fluctuate between 2008 and 2010 which gives the illusion that the SL2 might be getting something from the probe, but it’s exactly the same no matter whether it’s in sea water or calibration solution.

You may have a bad pH probe. You can try cleaning it in a solution of half vinegar and half DI water. The temp error would be normal if you don't have a temp probe hooked to the temp port on thr SL2. The SL2 uses a different temp probe than the iTemp that comes with the RKL head unit. That looks like the old SL2 module and not the new SL2v2.

Thanks, it is the older one but I never had the temp error before. How’s this for weird: left pH probe in calibration solution (I walked away in frustration, it wasn’t some plan), came back hours later, gave it one more try, and “poof” pH probe working. Calibrated using two solutions, spot on and tank was reading within normal ranges again. Weird but I’m not going to question it.

Glad to hear you got it working again. Don't try and update the firmware on SL2 module. It will get the firmware for the new SL2v2 and they have a different processor. The new firmware will not work with it. I still have my old SL2. The salinity probe quit working though. I think the temp sensor went out in the probe. Then new module uses a probe without a temp sensor. The module uses the temp sensor connected to Sl2v2 port for temp compensation.
