Not implying that I am one at all (pro) but I thought it'd be neat to have a thread of quick little 'pro tips' for people to browse. Not meant to be controversial or debated; just a quick post of something that you do that makes the hobby a little easier or something that you feel gives you an advantage or just something you feel others ought to know.

Here's an example:

Pro tip : use any leftover pvc to push stiff filter socks inside out; use a cap on the end and maybe even a piece to push against your belly for leverage; custom options are endless

pro tip: use a stiff bristled one of these for long hair algae. insert into the heart of it and start twirling; try to keep the tip on the rock as you twirl gently and let the tip follow the algae to the roots; walk to the trash/sink clean and repeat

Controllers can be Very expensive and over priced, but they do help me with consistency and health of my reef.

Agreed. In this vein; get a ato as soon as you can. It will keep your salinity steady and remove that factor/worry

The purpose of keeping fish and corals is so that you can have unidentified snails and worms.

90% of reef keeping equipment is entirely unnecessary

If you dont want live rock fo or fw is a better option than reef keeping.

An established and stable reef is going to have the biological diversity of your large intestine and you arent going to find that in a bottle.
