ReefBot on duty...

Testing on the frag tank.

It's bsolutely needed!
This tank is only about 2 weeks old and it has a very large consumption rate.
It drops about 3 dkh per day and drops about 20 ppm calcium a day.

I just switched to Red Sea Alk reagent and Red Sea Mag.
Im running my first Red Sea Tests as I type this.

Red Sea Alk is great, really happy with it. Have Red Sea PO4 on the way, has to be better than API! Been struggling with the API NO3 year but working through it. Hoping a really nice NO3 kit gets released. I asked BRS to carry the TM NO2/NO3 refill pack, hopefully that shows up soon.

Any opinions on the api calcium regeants with reefbot? Noticed it’s the only ca test but is it worth grabbing the red sea test that is currently in beta?

The API Ca test is about the best available. It’s dead on to manual Salifert and ICP in my setup and experience.

So....
Red Sea shows lower alk than I thought I had.
API showed 7 this morning.
Red Sea showed 5.30 this evening.

I think im going to trust the Red Sea test over API.
I've always had high Mag levels according to Salifert at about 1485 give or take some.
Red Sea shows even higher at 1520.

I don't think my mag is THAT high.
I've read that Red Sea is not very accurate when dealing with higher Mag levels.

What I AM happy with is the performance of the Reefbot.
I just wish it used less water because it uses a lot!

I think of it as a small water change every day. It allows me to get more limewater into the tank also, even though I don't currently need it. I will in the future. I run huge amounts of flow internal to the sump so I can add small amounts of dry salt to top it up every once and a while. Slow flow rate through sump to display.

My API/Salifert/Redsea alkalinity testing has been spot on between all three. Tested again today. As spot on as it could be because my alk is reading ~8dkh (API 8, RS 8.1, Sal 8.0).

My only struggle so far is API NO3. I hope Tropic Marin is much better than API NO3.

Can’t wait for my regeants to arrive!

Tank looks awesome!

Your ReefBot calibration needs to be fine-tuned. please email us a manual Redsea alkalinity result and a ReefBot result done on the same date and time to do that for you. please send your results on [email protected]

we are also working on minimizing the use of both saltwater sample and RODI.

Cheers!

Great job sir!

ReefBot S/N:

My results...
Hanna checker shows 7.7
Manual red sea shows about 7.0 I'm new to red sea tests. Not exactly sure what the endpoint should look like. Telling the difference between the blue to the correct shade of green is difficult.
Reefbot shows 7.8
Maybe it's good?

Got it! Maya our chemist will get back to you shortly.
It looks to me that everything is fine and you didnt choose the correct endpoint wile doing the RedSea manual.

Cheers!

@drernesto in the future are you guys planning on adding some way to be able to share our results with others that have reefbot like Neptune Apex has are able to be shared? I know between my buddy and I having them it would be cool that we could compare our results with each other on your app.

A nice idea! we're on it

Is there an API available (or any plans to offer)? I’m a software engineer by trade and would be happy to contribute to an open source project to integrate the reefbot into other Amazon Web Services.

Currently there’s no plans for this. But please email us on [email protected] and we will discuss further.
Thanks.

I need to order some more test kits from BRS. I've always used Salifert Alk but I'm thinking of switching to Red Sea. Am I correct in that you only need one Red Sea kit compared to two Salifert? And have you found the results to be just as accurate? Also, has anyone used the Tropic Marine Nitrate yet?

This answer seems different than the one I received when I emailed [email protected] about an API.

“On our current architecture it’s impossible to forward APIs, but we are working on enhancing this.

We will keep you updated.”

The lack of an accessible API will severely limit the usefulness of this product for myself, and I assume, others.

Is there no plan to make an accessible API? Or are you working to enhance your architecture to support one? Some clarity about this is appreciated. Thanks!

Only one redsea. By the reagent refill to save a little money. Premium aquatics sells it.

The support team is more into the technical side and knows the details of the architecture.

I tried running a test and green leds haven’t come on it is still blue ? Still says test in progress on App. While I was away earlier (maybe 2 hours )I tried to run a MG test twice and it failed .. ? It could’ve been that I need to add more regent ,so I done that and Try again to run a MG test . It has not turned green and start the procedure? Been about 15 mins . Never had this happen before.
