Hi, I recently purchased X2 ReefLed 90s and installed them on my reefer 250. Unfortunately within 2 hours of setting the lights up one of them shut down and the blue light on power supply had also shut off. I've been in touch with tech support and in the process of getting a replacement power supply for that light unit.

I've been monitoring the temperature of the working power supply using a temp gun. This has been placed outside of my sump area as instructed by red sea. The temperature I measured earlier today on the power unit hit 61.8c. The temperature of my room was 23c. I also took reading from other power supplies in my sump area for other equipment such as MP10's and Vectra S1 and they were sitting around 30c. My question is, is this a normal temp for a power supply to run at? I've read there have been issues with other members having similar issues and I'm wondering if I need both power units replacing and not just the broken one. Please see images attached showing differences in temps. Thanks

This has been seen many times with the ReefLED power supplies. Some even melting wires! Contact Red Sea and I believe they have replacements for overheating ones.

That doesn't sound safe at all!!! Very concerned that the temperatures are running so high!

Anyone else experiencing similar?

*Update 29/09/19*

*Please see my previous posts above*

Red sea sent me X2 replacement power supplies around 3 weeks ago. One to replace the broken PSU. One to replace the working PSU but I voiced my concern regarding operating temperature and was sent a new one to replace this unit. Both new PSU's installed outside of sump area and lights were both back up and running.

*Fast forward to Friday (27/09/19)*!

I received a notification via the reefbeat app telling me there was a connectivity issue early Friday morning with 1 light unit. Upon checking my tank 1 of the lights is off and the power supply (blue light) is also off. I unplugged unit and gave it 20 minutes to (cool down)! Plugged back in still no blue light on power supply. I then unplugged other working light unit and used that power supply with the light that failed. Low and behold the light unit switched on establishing the light unit is not at fault! I tested the power supply that had failed (no blue light) with a volt meter and it's dead!!!

This is the second power supply failure I have now had with these lights! Sent an email with all information to tech support but haven't heard anything back. This could be due to the weekend but you would expect 24/7 support! If I knew there would be issues I wouldn't of invested £750 in a pair on new lights and would have gone with another company.

I have the same question, the temperature always over 60c.
so i set the light from am 11:00 to pm 17:00....and move out the sump case

Please keep us updated on this situation. I just received 4 units yesterday and am looking to install them on my 180g, today. I will definitely locate the power supply outside the sump cabinet.

I've been told by red sea that this is an ok running temp for the PSU. I have mine placed out of sump area.

How are you finding them?

So far so good. Had some connectivity issues, but that is just due to poor WIFI signal on that end of the house. Looking at the "Offline" options, I dont think these would be a good choice for someone without a good Wifi signal. All that technical stuff aside, the light quality is good, and the predialed setup options are easy to work with.

I agree with you on the WiFi! Pretty sure they offer non WiFi options.
