I’m setting up my first reef tank, and I have a lighting question. It’s been 6 weeks, and I now have lights. My plan is to find the setting I like, then keep them off for another 6-8 weeks to let the bacterial film coat the rocks and help reduce the uglies.
My question is; how much blue light is sufficient? I (like a lot of others) prefer seeing more white light. I’ve tested par of both setting provided, and there’s a 15% difference in par throughout the tank. I prefer the lighting setting called “weekend” but is it enough for a reef tank in the future? Par ranges from 90-300 on weekend, and 120-350 on weekday.

Had this light on my red sea 170 prior to getting a G5 Pro.

I ran STRAIGHT BLUE with 10% white for 4 hours out of the day
