Hello,
This is my second Reeflo barracuda gold in the last 4 months. Today I noticed this near the shaft. Not sure what this is and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Not impressed with these pumps. Any thoughts on a pump that will handle 19 feet of head pressure (my sump is in the basement)?
Thank you

Thank you. Great video. It takes 24 hours for the silicone to dry. [emoji15] I have to come up up with some alternatives as a tank can’t be down for 24 hours

Your welcome. It will get worse though, so yes you will need a plan.

I went through the same thing with two Hammerhead gold hybrids. First was a less than a month old when it started to leak and sound loud. Reeflo let me send it back under warranty for another pump but I had to pay the $60 shipping to get it there. Since it was my only pump, they agreed to send me a new one first, but they needed a credit card number from me to pay for it. They would credit it back when they received the one I was returning (completely understandable). Second pump started to leak around the seal within a couple weeks . I really like the flow this pump provides but I am very unhappy with the seal quality. I definitely wasn’t happy about buying a $450 pump then paying another $60 to return it under warranty either. Reeflo will send you a seal kit under warranty though, to their credit and their customer service was very good. I sourced another aftermarket seal for saltwater because I had no faith in putting another Reeflo seal in. Overall, the seal replacement isn’t bad, and I haven’t had an issue since I changed it. I only had my pump offline for a few hours when changing the seal and had no problems when I reconnected it. I followed the same video posted above on YouTube.
I attached a pic of the salt creep/fling off of the shaft of mine. Both pumps did this almost immediately.

Thanks for the info. Do you have the part number and phone or website of where you got the better seal?
Super unhappy with this pump so far. Starting to look at the abyzz pump. Don’t want to spend that kind of money, but I also don’t want to be breaking down and rebuilding the reeflo every few months. Ugh!!!

Did you change out the seal yet? The silicon carbide seems to be a good combination for me so far. Fingers crossed...lol
