Another question, my tank is a 225 reef with a 30 gallon refugium, and a 40 gallon trigger sump. total water volume is between 275-300. My sump is located in the basement and I pump water up about 12' and have at least 7 90's. I am running an SCCI 12 return pump and looking to upgrade. ABBIZ is not in the budget so that is out. I am looking at the ReeFlo Hammerhead for a new return. The current setup also feeds a the UV sterilizer and then a series of media reactors. I am looking for the positives and negatives of reeflo pumps I have head they constantly drip.

I have a similar setup but with a larger overall system volume.
I have 1 Reefo Hammerhead pump that is locate in the basement. It supplies water to the following:
1) Main display tank (550 gallons - and approx. 20 feet of head pressure (estimated)
2) Refiugium
3) Frag tank
4) Chiller and all my reactors (calcium, carbon, ect)
Mine has the upgraded baldor motor, and it has been running straight for almost a solid year. No leaks and its an absolute beast. The only equipment not running off my return pump is my skimmer.
I have read that the seals can go at around the 1-year mark so I keep 2 spare seals on hand just in case. I also keep 2 spare o-rings that connects the volute to the pump. I looked at the Abyzz. I have read its an incredibly well made pump that for a DC pump can handle head pressure very well. It also costs well over $2,000 (from what I can remember). Since I run more or less my entire tank off my return pump, I wanted to know that in an emergency, I could get a replacement pump quickly that day. With the Reeflo I have that available and could pop a new pump on the system in 5 minutes. The cost for having 2 Reeflo pumps (1 spare and 1 backup) is still far less money than having 1 Abyzz pump and there was no way I was going to spend $4,000 for two pumps.
There are also upgraded carbide seals which you can use on the Reeflo pumps which are supposed to be far superior:
