ReefMat 1200 in WB Sump?

I have a Waterbox Frag 165.6, the one with the larger WB sump. I'd like to install a ReefMat 1200 but unsure it will fit. The dimensions are 7.5x18.5 with the filter sock chamber cleared of the current sock holders.

Anybody that has a 1200, could you measure the length of the front lip that is made to attach to the side of the sump? From the dimensions posted it doesn't seem like this is included. It looks like it will be very close to fitting.

According to Red Sea the depth (D1) for the 1200 is 8.7" - not including the front lip that extends from the unit over the glass (approximately another 1"). The unit does angle in - so it's possible that this would be slightly less if you used the legs to raise it - but I'm still not sure it would fit, to be honest (the 500 is 8.1" deep).

On paper, it doesn't work. But it looks like Red Sea is taking their measurement at the very top of the unit. This doesn't make sense to me since the unit seems tapered, so it should/could be smaller by the time it actually enters the sump. AT least this is my thought.

Hi, I have the Frag165.6 and had to put in middle chamber I removed the glass partition and the reef mat 1200 and my skimmer just fit. I made the first chamber where the filter socks go in to the refugium

Hey @RickysReef2022 I have a Waterbox 220.6 and thinking about doing something similar. Two questions for you:

1. Do you feel . you have enough flow in the converted sock compartments on the left for your refugium now that the return water goes straight to the middle of the sump connected to the roller?

2. How did you convert the stock WB plumbing to fit the hose attachment of the Reefmat?

Hi! Just got the Waterbox 145.5; it has the same sump as your 165.6 Frag. I used the Reefmat 500; the 1200 may be too big for that sock section.

Honestly you should just take that baffle out as well! Then you can run the reef mat to where it hang on the front glass of them sump and would open outward towards you and make changing the roll even easier than it's already gonna be. I have a 1200 on my WB 220.6. I love it so far. And that coming from a clarisea sk-5000 that was just installed at the end of January.

I agree. That would be the ideal set up especially with a 1200. I configured it this way in order to utilize the refugium chamber down the road (as a mini frag tank).

@Calvin Can you tell me what plumbing pieces you needed to buy to adapt the reefmat to the 220.6 drain pipe? I also have the WB 220.6 and I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on the reefmat 1200

A DN32 x standard 1 1/4" should do ya for it. And you might need a couple more parts as well, but let me get min plumbed in better than I have is and I will definitely let you know everything you need.

Edit: Sorry meant to say DN32 X 1 1/4" union.
