Looking into upgrading from a Biocube 32 to the Red Sea 170 in the spring. Been planning ahead with filtration ideas for it. Looking into using an algae scrubber over the ReefMat 500. Any recommendations?

The nice thing about both is that they are adjustable; you can cut down the photoperiod on the algae scrubber or raise the float valve on the fleece roller if your nutrients are too low. I think I may try both in my next tank, but it may be hard to fit both in the sump on a Reefer 170.

I know the Reefer Max 170 comes with a skimmer and a ReefMat. So I’ll have to look when I get it to see if I can squeeze a small one in there somewhere.
