so I was looking around recently for new pods for my system.. I added about 30 amphipods last year and 2 pouches of algagen reef pods... not sure what kind they were, but they were in a green liquid.. I've seen alot of them recently and was wondering if the amphipods feed on them? and was also wondering if some are beneficial to the tank and if some aren't?

I was wondering if certain pods prey on one another and which kinds?

yeah about them eating each other, but they also mate and produce big time so keep on feeding them some phyto they love that

what kind did you guys buy? I plan on buying the tangerine ones..

I have tiger pod in my refugin and main tank and amphipods plus some more that i dont know their names

I used reef nutrition tigger pods and so far my mandarin is doing great it's been like 3 months and he's fat as can be.... This tank was started fresh with dry rock so if it wasn't for them he wouldn't be a happy camper...:(

yOU GUYS BUY YOUR PODS???????? I set up a fuge years ago and they just grow like weeds, When I change my two socks I look inside of them and there scwerming around, I let them crawl on my fingers and flick them back into my fuge

I use the reef pods also I believe they are tisbe strain, I also use tigger pods aka tigrio pods from reef nutrition. I do always inoculate the tank at night. And with the tigger pods I usually put in dead cyclopeze with it to confuse the fish So they don't pick them off so fast. It kind of camouflages them

Pods are easy to culture if you grow phytoplankton, also easy to grow live brine shrimp.

I like the Tisbe ones. They come from tropical temps, breed rapidly and are a small pod.

I'm going to buy a few different kinds of pods. I plan on eventually adding a blue stripe pipefish or a pair of dwarf seahorses, so I want everything ready for them.

I just bought tisbe pods from reefcleaners and on the package it says these like to stay on the rocks as opposed to swimming freely. It recommends them for mandarins and such (which is the reason I got them)

Are there bad amphipods and copepods?
Well look up Tegastes acroporanus... anyone reconize this copepod?
They are not all good...

I also got to pouches of tisbe from John at reefcleaners.org.
