Reefsafe or not?

Pretty sure this is just a generic black bristlestar. Hitchhiker from kpaquatics liverock.

Seen a few smaller ones but this one seems large. The bristles are thicker then I expected but maybe in my hed I'm pictures then micro bristlestars.

Reef safe I assume? I've only heard of green ones being bad and these are all jet black.

Yep those are good clean up crew. But imo they should be fed meaty foods from time to time

Tank well be broadcast fed lrs I'm sure theyll find pieces of food to eat

I've been keeping bristle and serpent stars for many years. They do much better if target fed. I only do it maybe once every week or 2

When you say they do much better do you mean they stop eating fish or they just thrive better?

I'm not aware of any aggression towards fish (except for the green brittles). But if i don't feed them for 6 months or so I'll notice they start to eat their own legs (and this is in a 112g 10yr old dirty tank). So I feed raw seafood from the grocery store occasionally.
