ReefShark Reef jar build

Random question: where did you get those John guest bulk heads? I was looking for those at HD and couldn’t find them. Same for the rigid tube too :)

Finally, I’m jealous you’re near a makerspace. The closest one is 90 minutes from me :(
Ya being close to the makerspace has been a godsend. It keeps the mess out of the house for my wife. And I get to use fun tools.
The bulkheads were Amazon. Here is the link

The 1/4" O.D. acrylic tubing was purchased from a plastic supply store.

Today I finished installing the inside tubing.

The first picture that you see is of the airline tubing going into the tank. I have a "T" connector at the end of it so I can have the same amount of bubbles but spread out over a larger area so there is more flow.
The second and third pictures is how I'm going to hide the thermometer. I have the probe running alongside the auto waterchange out line. The notch was found into the glass so the wire would fit through.
The last few pictures are of the final result. I am really happy with how it turned out.

I just finished drilling the lid. I will have 3 lines going in and one coming out. 1-air line for circulation 2- ato line (with a small amount of kalkwasser for PH and corals) 3- in line for automated water change 4- line out for automated water change.

The large hole is for feeding with a special syringe. That way I can reduce contaminants and there is always a fresh supply of O2 and it allows me to have direct access to the hard acrylic lines inside the tank.

Any progress on your build?
Actually yes. I hit a bit of a snag about a month ago. I was drilling the jar itself and it cracked. So I had to restart everything. I just found a jar that is perfect for my purposes. It is an old 5g pickle jar from the 50's so now I am redesigning the build to fit this new jar. This one is actually better due to the wider base and more useable real estate. I've got lighting, rocks, stocking, filtration, all figured out. Itll just be a bit before it is all together

Hey everyone! Here is an update. I have successfully built an intelligent ATO AND Automatic Waterchange system that pulls water out at the same time it puts clean water in. I engineered a tiny thermometer and a smaller ph probe. This will be the main controller for my tank. Currently I am working on a mounting system so that the i/o lines on the tank are stable. I'm doing all that I can to build this tank to be stable enough to maintain some acros.

I am trying to decide to go bare bottom or not. I'm not sure of this will be a benefit or not. Or maybe I do a very very thin sand bed. I'd like everyone's thoughts on it.
