What is the best lighting for the reduction of algae? Blue/white %? I have two new Nicrew 100 watt Hypereef lights and would like to know the optimum lighting. My corals are all softies along with inverts and fish. Thanks for any help!!

#reefsquad Usually you can pull it out or scrape it out. Or you could use Blue Life Flux RX,, here there are diffrent types of treatment! Goodluck! Im sure the reefsquad will answer your lights question.

If you’re growing corals you’re growing algae! I think it’s nonsense people believe the blue to white ratio plays a factor! I’m from the days of 6,500k metal halides that look pure yellow with lots of red spectrum…. Guess what? Never had an algae problem cause I kept my nutrients in check! I still to this day run metal halides without any algae problems…. With all that being said if you got an algae problem you got nutrient problems not spectrum problems.
 
Photoperiod (length of light) is more important.

Are you dealing with a ton of algae at the moment? Got any pictures?
