ReefWave 45 is TOO much flow?

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I am finding that even on 10% power, my ReefWave45 is creating strong flow patterns that completely circulate a 4ft tank. Meaning that pointed completely horizontal, flow is reaching the bottom (8ft) of where the pump is at a low-medium flow rate. Surely I am doing SOMETHING wrong here?

I’ve got a similar problem but in a 2’1.5’1.5’ on 10%

Ended up aiming the water flow towards the surface of the water and it made it low enough for my tank. Not sure on OP's situation though

Mine is operating as expected. I have it on the back wall of my IM Nuvo 100 EXT with the max set to 70% running a random wave pattern. I'm going to add another to the other side of the back wall shortly after cycling has completed. It is holding great on the 3\4" back glass.
