refigium lighting

This luxbird would be my preference for a splash proof option (460 and 430nm).

But the Higrow blue and red lights hit the peak wavelengths for chlorophyll A

You can. Just that a nice light like that could also be lighting a frag tank or a new hobbyist's tank.

Inside the stand is an even tougher environment for a light than above the tank IMHO. Even more humidity and salt mist (if you're running a skimmer). The insides of a black box will corrode quite a bit within even 3-4 months, and there's the internal fan blowing it all back out straight above the sump. Also the increased possibility of a short/fire hazard in a kinda out of sight, out of mind light.

I'm kinda being a nervous nelly. Sure it will grow the holy heck out of chaeto. Just food for thought.

I have this and I am really happy with it, grows my algae well and is app controllable.

So a big fat NO to putting it over my sump
