How old is your tank and when was the last time you did a water change?

I would use a LED grow bulb; I'm basing this partially on Bulk Reef Supply's chaeto refugium tests where Kessil refugium lights worked best (similar to plant grow bulbs, where you are trying to hit chlorophyll's peak absorption wavelengths).

I personally run https://www.amazon.com/MarsHydro-Light-Organic-Style-plants/dp/B01ARI3HIG; a slightly higher powered version is https://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics-L...07873697&sr=1-1&keywords=taotronics+grow+bulb.

I've had very good success with the 24 watt version. I may try upgrading to the TaoTronics just to see how it works (and after reading that it runs quite cool, as the Mars Aqua runs a little hot).

I run a Kessil H380 on my Red Sea Peninsula, I would have gone with a cheaper refugium led grow light like I have on my other tanks, but @Bulk Reef Supply ran some tests as I was setting up the peninsula that showed the Kessil to be one of the best so I decided to try it out and I'd have to agree. Where my other tanks keep chaeto alive I'm not pulling tons of it out every few weeks like I do under the Kessil.

I use a Kessil H350 and have had really great results since switching from a 6500k grow light setup. It was the clip on shop light rig but for me only kept the chaeto alive. With the Kessil, I'm pruning a packed grocery bag size every 3-4 weeks.
